The Best Stocking Stuffer Ideas for 2020

Christmas stockings were the first thing I was allowed to open as a kid. My siblings and I had to wait for the entire family to be present before we could start opening presents. But! We could dive right into our stockings as soon as we peeled open our eyes on Christmas morning. Our stockings were usually filled with wacky gifts from Santa (aka my mom). And to this day, I still get a kick outta filling my husband’s stocking with fun little knick-knacks that are (of course!) sustainable and practical too. By the way, there’s nothing I hate more than a gift that’s just meant to sit there and do nothing. It’s gotta be functional god dammit! So this year, I’ve put together my list of the best stocking stuffer ideas, all hand-picked from my favorite eco friendly store: EarthHero. These’ll be sure to infuse a bit of sustainability, practicality and of course fun into your family’s Christmas stockings.
Oh, and before I forget to mention, EarthHero has teamed up with Trees for the Future this holiday season. And for every order placed through their website, they’re gonna plant 5 trees. Add that to the carbon neu

Bandanas
It’s pretty crazy to think that we can no longer walk out of the house without some sort of face mask on. And bandanas are a great way to take care of both function and fashion at the same time. This black bandana is made out of 100% organic cotton and is as breathable as it is stylish. Added bonus? For every United by Blue bandana sold, the company will remove one pound of trash from our waterways. That, my friend, is a gift that keeps on giving.
Masks
At this point, you’ve probably tried a million different kinds of masks in search of the perfect one. And if a bandana isn’t your style, these masks’ll do the trick. They’re made from salvaged fabric scraps that would’ve otherwise been tossed. And they’re super comfortable, infinitely reusable/washable, and have a sleeve for a filter if you want extra-extra protection. You can give them as a set, or split them up into different stockings for your family. They’re also made by the same company as the bandana above, which means that a pound of trash will also be removed from the ocean when you purchase these bad boys.
Wooden Air Pods Case
Apple air pods are awesome, but they’re also super expensive, so you wanna make sure that you do everything you can to protect them. This wooden case is exactly what you need to do the trick. It’s made from FSC Certified walnut wood and it’s hand polished with a natural, non-toxic coating. And for every one the company sells, they plant a tree! That’s 6 trees in total if you get it between now and Christmas.
And since we’re on the topic of protecting things, how about a…
Compostable Cell Phone Case
Just like those air pods, your iPhone is a pricey number, so you wanna make sure you’ve got it protected. And what’s better than a rock solid plastic case? A case that’s COMPOSTABLE!!! Yes, you heard right. Pela makes this baby from compostable bioplastic elastomer and flax straw. It gives you the added protection you need without the added bulk and without the eco guilt.
Vegan Lip Balm
This vegan lip balm from meow meow tweet is the perfect little addition to any stocking stuffer. It comes in a paper tube which can be recycled or composted, and can be used for lips and other areas that tend to dry out, like crusty elbows. It’s made in NYC with organic ingredients. And, of course, it’s cruelty free!
Straw Set
I purchased one of these a couple of months ago and I’m absolutely in love. It’s super cute, comes in a bunch of different designs, and also has room for you to stuff a few extra things in there…like a fork and knife. You can keep it in your purse or in your car for any unexpected straw situations – it’s also super durable. And like some of our friends above, for every set sold, one pound of trash will be removed from oceans or waterways.
On-the-go Aromatherapy Kit
We’re finally coming to the end of a crazy AF year. Truly… 2020 will be one for the books. And with that, you’ve probably had a bit more anxiety than normal, which is why a mini aromatherapy kit is just what you need to calm the nerves and take you to a happier place. This kit is compact enough to fit in your bag, cruelty-free, and made in the USA. It’s also organic and free of toxic ingredients.
Hand Sanitizer
Ok… so there’s no way I could finish this list without including everyone’s biggest purchase from 2020. My guess is that every single stocking this year will have a bottle of hand sanitizer in it. But the difference with this one is it actually smells good, doesn’t dry out your skin, and won’t leave your hands feeling sticky. Plus, it comes in a glass bottle!
To close this one out…
If you’ve been wracking your brain for what to get for gifts this year, this list of the best stocking stuffer ideas is sure to give you a good start. What’s even better is that purchasing any of these stocking stuffers also leads to planting several trees and, in many instances, ocean cleanups. Plus, they’re all shipped via carbon neutral shipping and minimal packaging, so it’s a slam dunk across the board. While I know you’re already pretty conscious about doing your part throughout the year, these gift ideas up the ante for the holidays where waste and consumption are extra high.
