That’s exactly how I felt.
In fact, not too long ago, I was standing in my kitchen with a piece of plastic packaging in my hand, staring intensely at my recycling bin. Was it recyclable? How would I know if I put it in the right bin or not? And even if I did put it in the right bin, would it actually get recycled? I was so confused. And frustrated.
This scenario played out in all parts of my life … in the bathroom, at work and at the grocery. I felt like everything I bought either had toxic chemicals in it; came with insane amounts of packaging; or burned way too many fossil fuels just in the process of getting to me.
I knew that the amount of trash I created was a problem and my carbon footprint was much bigger than it should be. But I didn’t know what to do about it.
That moment, along with so many others, made me feel helpless about the environment, and made me wonder if I stood any chance at saving it. I wanted to avoid the incredibly terrifying, environmental apocalypse I’d envisioned in my head. But the daily guessing game of figuring out what products and ingredients to avoid, and how to properly dispose of them was exhausting.
I’d spend hours and hours scrolling through the internet trying to find sustainable products and tips that could help me lower my footprint. And that’s when it hit me. People need this! Not the hours wasted online, but the information. And they need a quick and easy way to get it from someone they trust.
